The applicator has been designed for ease of use; although uncommon, some women may experience difficulty using the applicator for the first time.
If a woman has severe VA symptoms, using the applicator may cause bleeding or be painful. If they are using it correctly, they can be referred to their GP for other local oestrogen therapy or cream which can be used to obtain sufficient symptom relief before they re-try using Gina.
If problems using the applicator develop after a period of regular, consistent use, this could indicate a concurrent condition (such as vaginal thrush) or a general health change (e.g. changes to manual dexterity). If it is vaginal thrush that can be treated using pharmacy products (if appropriate), this could be tried first; otherwise, refer them to their GP for assessment.
