As a new leader, you can’t know everything, but you can demonstrate an appetite to learn about your industry and your organisation, whether that’s information about the pharmaceutical market, approaches to management, understanding how a company works, looking to other sectors, appreciating a line manager’s leadership style or understanding how to network.
To be a leader, you must have passion. And when challenges come your way – and they will, often out of the blue – you need to dust yourself down, take note of your position and drive on. This is what a leader does.
