If you were in the commendable position that your service exceeded the national/local guidelines or there were no guidelines in place what would be your next steps? You might consider sharing your recommendations with a wider group of colleagues, or setting up a peer group meeting to suggest formulating new local guidelines.

Outside of any contractual obligations, clinical audit is a really useful tool that allows you to learn from your own practice alongside examples set by best practice. If you are a sole practitioner and find it hard to select an audit topic try working collectively with local colleagues which allows you to support each other and create a more meaningful clinical audit environment.
