05: Establish the patient’s expectations
Patients may come to you with a medicine or product in mind. It is important to listen to their views and consider their choices. If you don’t agree, it is important to explain why you think a different approach or medicine may be more beneficial.
06: Make suggestions and provide options rather than imposing decisions on the patient
This goes back to the heart of what patientcentred care is all about. Build trust with the patient and offer choices based on your consultation with them and come to a decision together.
