Educational psychologist Carl Rogers proposed the idea that every learner has their own attitudes, needs, interests and learning styles. He stated that to maximise learning, any teaching should be learner-centred, with the learner dictating the content and style of the session.
Rogers considered that the best form of teaching session involves the teacher listening to learners’ views and both the teacher and the learner reflecting on their actions and the new ideas. This way, learners are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning.
