Further analysis of the research shows that there are six essential components to ‘inspirational leadership’. Leaders who have them:
- Genuinely care about their people, and demonstrate that clearly
- Involve everybody
- Show appreciation
- Ensure that, as far as possible, work is fun and made meaningful
- Show real trust and demonstrate their own trustworthiness
- Listen.
Based on these findings, we can develop a basic ‘3T’ model: Talk – listen and keep in touch. Trust – show trust in people and demonstrate your own trustworthiness. Thank – show thanks and appreciation.
