There is nothing more rewarding than developing your employees. Of course, to develop you must understand the starting point:
- What areas require development?
- What does the employee aspire to?
- How does this fit with the business plan?
- Does the employee want to be developed in this direction?
Development could include simply showing a current employee how to undertake a new task or to aid those who aspire to a career pathway to gain relevant qualifications, such as for the dispensing technician role. It is imperative that you never impose a course of training and development on anyone. Of course, some positions require mandatory programmes, but this should be discussed with the employee before starting a new job or prior to the implementation of any new government policy or regulation.
