The 4Ps of good leadership are:

  • People focus
  • Positivity
  • Professionalism
  • Performance.

Three of the Ps drop out of most publicised research quite readily. Performance is the odd one out.

Most leaders see performance as a symptom, not a cause of good leadership but if should not be forgotten. We will focus on the first three areas in the following.

The phrase '4Ps as a leadership journey' refers to a journey to highlight the point that leadership is a developmental process that is life-long; it is not a destination that we arrive at and can forget. By focusing on the areas in the model where you have the greatest development needs, you will improve your overall leadership capability, particularly when you marry this model to some of the practical tips of inspirational leadership already suggested.

The words in the model can mean more or less anything to anyone. So, to sharpen the focus, let us look briefly at what they might mean to you as pharmacy and business leaders, so that you are able to convert them into something practical and useful for your daily lives.
