It will help reduce the risk of fever if she gives it soon, ideally within an hour⁴ of the vaccination, as well as reducing the chance of the baby being irritable or having any discomfort at the site of the injection."⁴

"I advised her to give him 2.5ml as soon as possible after the injection, then 2.5ml 4-6 hours after that, and then a third dose a further 4-6 hours after that.⁴

I pointed out that it is helpful to make a note of the timings, and there's an oral syringe in the pack. I also said to her to remember to give the bottle a good shake first - and that there's a leaflet inside with all the information she needs."
