Covid-19
A new, continuous cough is one of the main symptoms of coronavirus (alongside a high temperature and a loss of or change in a person’s sense of smell or taste). This means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if the person usually has a cough, it may be worse than usual).
Current Government guidance states that if someone has any of the main symptoms of Covid-19, even if they’re mild, they should:
- Get a PCR test to check if they have Covid-19 as soon as possible
- Stay at home and self-isolate until they get their test result – they should only leave their home once they have a negative test result.
