Don't forget...

Many cold remedies are combination products, containing more than one medicine. Be careful when recommending and advising on their use and always check if the person is taking any other medicines – both prescribed and over the counter – in case there is a risk of overdose.

Cold season is a great opportunity to talk about the seasonal flu jab. There are many groups of people who are eligible for free vaccination, including people aged 50 and over, children from the age of two up to Year 11 in secondary school, carers, pregnant women, care home residents, frontline health and social care staff, those with certain health conditions and those who live with someone who is more likely to get infections. Others may opt for a paid-for vaccination, if available. Find out more on the NHS website.
