Children and Covid-19
Children tend to experience milder Covid-19 symptoms than adults, but if infection is suspected, they should get a PCR test as soon as possible. The child and anyone else they live with must stay at home and not mix with anyone else until they get the test result. If the result is positive, they should follow the guidelines for self-isolation.
The main symptoms of Covid-19 in children are:
- A high temperature
- A new, continuous cough (coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours)
- Loss or change in sense of smell or taste.
