Understanding your customers' needs

As part of the pharmacy team you need to be well-equipped to deal with customers' concerns and particular needs from a treatment. Just as every wart looks different, how customers want to treat them may be different. Some may have reservations about treating their child, or concerns about pain.
Through engaging with your customer, you can uncover what they have used in the past and what their preferences might be.

What will it feel like?

EndWarts Freeze will cause a tingling feeling and the skin may feel sore or irritated. These effects should go away after a few hours.

Immediately after treatment the treated area will turn white. After a little while the skin will go back to its normal colour and the wart will look red.

There is no pain when applying the solution, but the solution may feel dry and you may smell the acid when you first open the cap.

How long will it take?

Warts on the hands, arms and fingers, or thin skin (e.g. on top of the foot or on toes), need to be treated for 15 seconds. Treatment time for verrucas is 40 seconds.

Normally one treatment is sufficient. If the wart hasn't disappeared after 14 days the treatment needs to be repeated.

The application takes three seconds, and needs to be applied once a week. You may need between 5 - 15 treatments (4-12 weeks).

How will I know if it's working?

From within a few minutes to several days after freezing, a blister can develop, occasionally filled with blood. This indicates that the treatment was successful.

If the wart doesn't disappear after 10-14 days, they can repeat the application, making sure to follow the instructions carefully.

If the wart hasn't disappeared after 3 treatments, a doctor should be consulted.

As the solution is colourless, it might be difficult for the customer to see how much is being applied. Recommend that they press the tip of the pen onto a piece of tissue before treatment. They will see a wet mark, and so feel more confident about the amount to apply.

After a few treatments, black spots are usually seen in the wart. These are tiny blood capillaries that supply the wart with blood. This is a sign that the wart is about to disappear, and customers should continue treatment until it goes completely.

What can I use on my child?

Children over 4 years can be treated with EndWarts Freeze. Ensure an adult is using the device when treating children.

Can be used by the whole family; also suitable for children under 4 years. It is recommended that children under 4 years are seen by a GP prior to treatment, to confirm it is a wart.
