NSAIDs and asthma

Asthma affects 1 in 11 people in the UK6 and such customers may believe they cannot take ibuprofen because of the risk of an asthma attack, but this happens in just 7% of asthmatics.7

The Global Initiative on Asthma says NSAIDs are not generally contraindicated unless there is a history of previous reactions to NSAIDs or aspirin.7 Ibuprofen should generally only be avoided in those asthmatics who have previously experienced an asthma attack after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.7

You can therefore reassure asthmatic customers who may wish to purchase OTC ibuprofen but feel reluctant due to concerns over exacerbation of their condition.
