Is the head lice repellent spray effective?
One repellent spray is available. It contains IR3535 (ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate), which has been used safely and effectively for 30 years against insects and ticks carrying a range of human infectious diseases. It is also claimed to be effective against head lice, although there appears to be no published evidence.
To prevent re-infection, the manufacturer recommends daily use during outbreaks after head lice have been eradicated.
