Q:Â What advice would you give, and why?
A: In this situation, it would be inappropriate to offer advice or treatment for the patient’s constipation as she is already under medical supervision. A side effect of ondansetron is constipation. You should advise that the patient contact the ante-natal clinic or her GP immediately, as the ondansetron may have to be stopped and another anti-emetic tried. Also, the constipation will need to be treated.
