CRYOTHERAPY

Three products are available that remove infected wart and verruca tissue by freezing with dimethyl ether. The agent is delivered to a foam applicator from an aerosol container and applied to the affected area, for 20 seconds for warts and up to 40 seconds for verrucas.

DUCT TAPE

Duct tape, a strongly adhesive and occlusive type of sticky tape, widely used the building trade and for DIY, is another method for removal of warts and verrucas and is included here for completeness.

A piece of tape is cut to the size of the lesion and placed on top of it for six days. It is then removed, the area soaked in warm water and dead tissue filed off. After leaving overnight, the process is repeated, if necessary, until all infected tissue has been removed, for up to a maximum of eight weeks.
