Lincolnshire Co-op pharmacies to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

Pharmacies belonging to Lincolnshire Co-op will help the group run a series of events to raise £200,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in six months.

Staff from the group, which also operates food stores, funeral homes, a florist and crematorium business, travel agencies and post offices, will host community fundraising events such as sponsored walks and coffee mornings in Lincolnshire and the surrounding counties.

Lincolnshire Co-op also said it will cover colleagues’ costs if they take part in sponsored walks organised by Macmillan in Cromer in Norfolk, Skipton in Yorkshire and Bakewell in Derbyshire.

Lincolnshire Co-op, whose pharmacies joined membership of the Company Chemists’ Association this year, told Independent Community Pharmacist all 43 of its branches will participate in the fundraising efforts.

“Fundraising is business-wide, so all branches will be participating by having collection pots and accepting dividend cards for retail or over the counter purchases,” a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Co-op said.

“As the campaign goes on, teams across the business, including in pharmacy, will also be organising coffee mornings and sponsored walks.”
