Wiltshire Police has said it is investigating reports that a man armed with a knife threatened staff in a pharmacy in Wiltshire before making off with “a number of perfumes.”
Staff at Gompels Pharmacy in Bank Street, Melksham, were allegedly confronted by the man just after 9am on September 5. According to Wiltshire Police, customers said they saw him holding a knife as he made threats to staff, although nobody was hurt.
The force has urged anyone with information to come forward and check dash cams or CCTV footage to assist it with its investigation. No description of the suspect has been released so far.
“Fortunately, nobody was hurt during this incident but those in the store at the time were understandably shaken up as a result of this man’s actions,” said Sergeant Gemma Rutter from Wiltshire Police.
“Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident was reported and we are really keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious.
"Gompels is right in the centre of Melksham town and this incident happened at what would have been a busy time of day with people doing the school runs or heading off to work.”
