Introduction
Hypertension rarely causes symptoms and is often referred to as a 'silent killer'. Indeed, according to Public Health England, undiagnosed hypertension was responsible for 75,000 deaths in 2015 in England.
Some people do develop symptoms, such as headaches, nosebleeds, an irregular heartbeat, changes in vision and buzzing in the ears.
But whether they have symptoms or not, as a pharmacy technician, you have an opportunity to make an impact on the numbers of people with undiagnosed hypertension by promoting hypertension case finding services.
