Communication is key
Discussing how the DMS will work within the locality provides another opportunity for community pharmacy professionals to develop good working relationships with their local GP/PCN pharmacy professionals. This could include:
- Agreeing the best way to communicate with each other
- Identifying what services different community pharmacies provide
- Clarifying what the GP/PCN pharmacy professional does routinely in practice, for example, medicines reconciliation, dealing with medicines queries, medication reviews or any specialist clinics
- Making community pharmacy professionals aware of which days GP/PCN pharmacy professionals work in practices.
