Huddles can be used regularly, e.g. as a daily tool to monitor general patient safety issues. Alternatively, if a patient safety incident has already occurred, huddles can help the team reflect on what could have prevented the incident and how safety can be improved.
Combining huddles with other tools can support the improvement process. Indeed, huddles can be viewed as a series of mini PDSA (plan, do, study, act) cycles, which will be covered in a later part of this module.
Keeping it simple will help pharmacy teams get started using huddles and there are several different approaches that can be taken to focus them.
