This is the first of what will be a regular feature in our CPD modules – an easy way to use your learning to make an entry in your revalidation record. This example refers to the subject of antimicrobial resistance.
GPhC Q1. What are you planning to learn?
Tip: The GPhC expects this section to include three things – a learning objective, why this learning is relevant to your role, and how this learning will benefit the people who use your services.
Learning objective: e.g. To prepare myself and my team to provide clinical advice for customers who present at the pharmacy with sore throats, coughs and colds with the goals of reducing antibiotic use and preventing unnecessary visits to their general practice team.
Why this learning is relevant to my role: (For you to add)
How it will benefit the people who use my services: (For you to add)
GPhC Q2. How are you planning to learn it?
Tip: This section is for the learning activities you are going to do. Obviously, completing this module is one learning activity but make sure you include other activities that show how you will be able to apply your learning.
• What will you and your team do to prepare ahead of the winter season to support patients in the management of self-limiting infections such as sore throats, coughs and colds?
• How will you make sure that members of your team know what the likely length of common infections are as well as the red flag symptoms for referral?
• Where will you get copies of the Treating Your Infection leaflet from to display in a prominent place in the pharmacy?
GPhC Q3. Give an example of how this learning has benefited the people using your services.
Tip: Here you need to include statements about how you envisage your team and/or your customers and/or local general practices will benefit from your learning. Also include an example of how someone actually benefited.
e.g. This learning will benefit my team by...
e.g. An example of a customer/patient who benefited from my learning is...
