Skin infections can be bacterial, fungal or viral. Some can be minor, self-limiting episodes, while more serious infections may require referral for assessment and prescribed antimicrobial treatment. The pharmacy is often the first port of call so it is important pharmacy teams are able to distinguish between them.

This module focuses on common bacterial skin infections, which can be categorised according to the sites of infection: epidermal, follicular and dermal.
