This CPD module is the second of two on ear care based on the Clinical Knowledge Summaries produced by NICE. The module picks up where last month’s left off, continuing the journey into the inner ear. So let’s consider some common conditions.

  • Vertigo can negatively impact activities such as working and driving, and also increases the risk of falls, anxiety and depression
  • Some causes of vertigo gradually resolve with no treatment other than rest and hydration, but Ménière’s disease may require treatment
  • Most cases of tinnitus are due to a problem with the auditory system
  • Unless the cause is identified as something that can be resolved or otherwise treated, the aim of tinnitus management is to make it easier to live with.
