On the self-care front, a market report published in The Grocer in June reported healthy figures for the UK’s VMS market, with a 5.9 per cent sales increase taking the category value to £431.4m.2
This is a significant change to market conditions in 2014, when Mintel reported that VMS sales “flatlinedâ€.3 It concluded that this was due to reduced new product development and a shift towards healthier diets.
