Psoriasis and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), two new meta-analyses suggest.
The first analysis, based on four studies, found that psoriasis patients were 46 per cent more likely to develop VTE than controls. The increased risk was €fairly consistent€ across the studies (35-66 per cent increased risk).
The second analysis, which looked at six studies, found that patients taking NSAIDs were 80 per cent more likely to develop a VTE than non-users.
