Learning with others can be enjoyable, but it can sometimes be difficult to attend workshops to support your CPD. Setting up a CPPE learning community enables you to learn with your colleagues at a time to suit you.
A learning community is a group of two to 20 people who meet up to work through CPPE programmes together. Think of it as a kind of pharmacy 'book club' where you learn socially with your peers.
You can meet with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy prescribers to work through focal point programmes (aimed at community pharmacy professionals), learning@lunch programmes (aimed at hospital and primary care pharmacy professionals) and the CPPE 'Supporting pharmacist prescribers' series. You can learn with colleagues in your pharmacy or with a group of pharmacy professionals in your local area.
What are the benefits of learning communities?
You may find it difficult to attend CPPE tutor-led workshops or you may live in a rural area. Learning communities give you the flexibility to learn when you want and the option to learn informally with a small group or in a larger, work-based group.
How do I set up a learning community?
Find a group of pharmacy friends or colleagues who are interested in forming a learning community and nominate someone to be the leader.
Then choose a topic you would like to focus on at your first meeting. The leader can set up a learning community on the CPPE website and input your chosen topic, time and place. The CPPE will send Book 1 (pre-reading) to the leader and each member of the learning community. Book 2 (discussion material) will be sent to the learning community leader to take to the meeting.
You can take it in turns to lead a meeting by changing the name of the learning community leader on the CPPE website.
