Following the success of last year’s National Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Day, this year’s campaign will run for the entire month of April and is being supported by media medic Dr Dawn Harper. With the theme ‘It’s Time to Talk’, it aims to encourage women to talk more openly about intimate health and seek expert advice and treatment for their concerns.
Organised by Balance Activ, the campaign is being featured in national print and broadcast media. Community pharmacies are being encouraged to lend their support, by taking advantage of product promotions and in-store advertising.
Joel Sidney, Balance Activ head of sales and marketing, said: “Despite the prevalence of BV, our research suggests that around 47 per cent of women are in the dark and don’t know what BV is or what symptoms to look out for.”
