Psoriasis and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), two new meta-analyses suggest.
The first analysis, based on four studies, found that psoriasis patients were 46 per cent more likely to develop VTE than controls. The increased risk was “fairly consistent†across the studies (35-66 per cent increased risk).
The second analysis, which looked at six studies, found that patients taking NSAIDs were 80 per cent more likely to develop a VTE than non-users.
