Boots UK has announced the death of its deputy superintendent pharmacist, Dr José Moss.
She had fought cancer for the past two years but passed away on January 10.
Dr Moss began her career as a pharmacy technician before completing her pharmacy degree. She worked at Safeway as pharmacy manager and later as company secretary for Moss Chemist before moving to roles with Alliance Pharmacy and Boots UK.
She became deputy superintendent in 2015 and was particularly dedicated to continual improvement in patient safety management. Her work at Boots included the digitisation of SOPs, evolving pharmacy incident and event reporting systems, managing professional communications and developing professional leadership training programmes.
Dr Moss also supported the pharmacy profession more widely, holding the positions of vice-chair of the Community Pharmacy Patient Safety Group and chair of the CCA Pharmacy Practice Group.
Paying tribute, Claire Nevinson, superintendent pharmacist, said: “José’s legacy is shaped by her contribution and commitment to the profession and to patient safety. We will also remember her compassion, empathy, kindness and unwavering care for both colleagues and patients. She leaves an indelible mark on our profession and in our hearts.”
